Well, it is now January 1st, 2014. Happy New Year to everyone! Hope you all had a safe and happy New Years Eve.
As some of you know I started writing for Yahoo! a few months ago. I started doing it as a way to get back into shape (writing wise) before starting a new screenplay. Initially it was just for practice, but I've actually started to earn a little money at it. So I've decided to write as many articles for Yahoo! as possible.
I am now receiving upfront offers from my articles. It's not much, maybe $5 per article. I also receive performance views ($1.50 per 1000 views). I have decided that every dime I receive from writing these articles will go towards funding I Don't Recall (the screenplay I briefly mentioned above). Kate and I are hoping to have it completed within the next month or so. We currently have 62 pages written (our goal is 100). So we're 62% done with the first draft. My goal is to shoot it for $50,000 and have some name talent play smaller roles (1 day shooting roles). I have no idea why I'm so optimistic that we can raise that much money, but I will be putting in every dime I make writing these Yahoo! articles. I'm going to try to write one every day, but it will be difficult coming up with a topic every day. So I'm going to try for 5 a week. So that's $20 a week I'll be putting towards the film that we hope to shoot in May of 2015. So I have about 75 weeks.
$20 x 80 = $1600
I will also be putting in my weekly performance bonus' from my day job. I typically get between $40 and $70 a week from that. But for the average, let's say $50 a week.
$50 x 80 = $4000
So I should be able to come up with $5600 of that $50,000 by myself.
But that whole I Don't Recall fundraising stuff is still several months away. Probably won't start that until September. Still have to finish the script, put together a fundraising team. All that fun stuff.
So how can you help in the meantime?
Simple, give me $50,000.
Don't have it? But still want to help?
That's great too! Just click on (and hopefully) read every article you see me post. Also, "share" the article on Facebook or Twitter. My articles are typically about movies, sports, or editorials/opinion pieces about things in the news that piss me off (or make me happy, but so far it's only been stuff that's pissed me off).
Here are some of my most recent articles... Please click and read (and share).

I will be posting more articles daily, mainly on Facebook (I'll post them here too, but not one at a time, that would be a lot of blogs, I'll put them into groups of 5 like this blog)
Again, every thing I make from my writing will go towards my next feature film. I am still shooting the short/drama No Regrets this spring. I don't want people to think I raised the money for that and then just decided not to shoot it. It's still on. Probably shooting in April or May. 4 day shoot. Piece of cake.
I wish you all the best in 2014. It's going to be a great year! I can just feel it.
