Loads of new articles + some updates!

As some of you know I recently started writing for Yahoo! Contributor Network to get back in the writing habit for a feature length comedy screenplay my g/f (Kate) and I are working on called I Don't Recall.

Well, a funny thing happened while writing for Yahoo!  I started making money at it.  Not a ton right off the bat, but enough to keep at it.

Below are the articles that I have published since my last blog.

CLICK HERE to read by Hollywood is making too much money to be original. Expect more of the same from them in 2014.

CLICK HERE to read about how to run a successful Kickstarter campaign. I show you what to do and breakdown one filmmaker's dreadful attempt at a campaign and why it failed miserably.

As you can see, I've been very busy writing articles for Yahoo! the past couple weeks. While I haven't made a ton of money, I have about $500 saved up to go towards I Don't Recall. Which is roughly about 1% of what the budget will be.  I know that doesn't sound like much but by the time we're ready to shoot in the late spring/early summer of 2015 I hope to have about $6500 of my own money to put towards the film (which is about 12.5% of the budget $50,000).  I will be setting aside all my Yahoo! money + all my weekly incentive money from the day job. I have about 80 weeks to save up.  Hopefully when people see how much of a risk I'm willing to take on my own film they will be willing to donate via kickstarter/indiegogo later in the fall when we do a campaign.

Speaking of I Don't Recall, Kate and I have hit a bit of a snag, but still have 70 pages of the script completed. Just need to tie up a few loose ends and write a few more scenes and it will be over 100 pages (which is our goal).  100 pages will keep the movie within the 80-90 minutes range. Obviously we're fine with it being longer, but we definitely don't want it shorter.

So that's where we're at with that.  If you have to read an article that you enjoy please share it with your friends. I get paid by the view, so sharing my articles really helps me out.

Thank you,

Happy New Year from Moped Jones!

Well, it is now January 1st, 2014. Happy New Year to everyone! Hope you all had a safe and happy New Years Eve.

As some of you know I started writing for Yahoo!  a few months ago. I started doing it as a way to get back into shape (writing wise) before starting a new screenplay. Initially it was just for practice, but I've actually started to earn a little money at it. So I've decided to write as many articles for Yahoo! as possible.

I am now receiving upfront offers from my articles. It's not much, maybe $5 per article. I also receive performance views ($1.50 per 1000 views).  I have decided that every dime I receive from writing these articles will go towards funding I Don't Recall (the screenplay I briefly mentioned above).  Kate and I are hoping to have it completed within the next month or so. We currently have 62 pages written (our goal is 100).  So we're 62% done with the first draft. My goal is to shoot it for $50,000 and have some name talent play smaller roles (1 day shooting roles).  I have no idea why I'm so optimistic that we can raise that much money, but I will be putting in every dime I make writing these Yahoo! articles. I'm going to try to write one every day, but it will be difficult coming up with a topic every day. So I'm going to try for 5 a week. So that's  $20 a week I'll be putting towards the film that we hope to shoot in May of 2015.  So I have about 75 weeks.

$20 x 80 = $1600

I will also be putting in my weekly performance bonus' from my day job. I typically get between $40 and $70 a week from that.  But for the average, let's say $50 a week.

$50 x 80 = $4000

So I should be able to come up with $5600 of that $50,000 by myself.

But that whole I Don't Recall fundraising stuff is still several months away. Probably won't start that until September.  Still have to finish the script, put together a fundraising team. All that fun stuff.

So how can you help in the meantime?

Simple, give me $50,000.

Don't have it? But still want to help?

That's great too! Just click on (and hopefully) read every article you see me post. Also, "share" the article on Facebook or Twitter.  My articles are typically about movies, sports, or editorials/opinion pieces about things in the news that piss me off (or make me happy, but so far it's only been stuff that's pissed me off).

Here are some of my most recent articles... Please click and read (and share).

CLICK HERE to read about why celebrities shouldn't be using crowdfunding their films.

CLICK HERE to read about the Chicago Bears season in review.

CLICK HERE to read about how to get great music for  your indie film w/o going broke.

CLICK HERE to read about A&E's mishandling of the Duck Dynasty situation.

CLICK HERE to read about how Hollywood made a ton of money in 2013 despite it's complete and utter lack of originality.

I will be posting more articles daily, mainly on Facebook (I'll post them here too, but not one at a time, that would be a lot of blogs, I'll put them into groups of 5 like this blog)

Again, every thing I make from my writing will go towards my next feature film.  I am still shooting the short/drama No Regrets this spring. I don't want people to think I raised the money for that and then just decided not to shoot it. It's still on. Probably shooting in April or May. 4 day shoot. Piece of cake.

I wish you all the best in 2014.  It's going to be a great year! I can just feel it.
